Our story

Maison Forneau is a French brand of kitchenware made from pure titanium. This page sets out what we make, what can be verified about the material, and the points we state plainly without shortcuts.

In one sentence

  • Maison Forneau is a French brand designing pure grade 1 titanium kitchenware with no non-stick coating, made for cooking directly on bare metal, tested by an independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and compliant with food-contact standards.

The brand

Maison Forneau designs kitchenware in pure titanium: frying pans, sauté pans, woks, saucepans, stockpots, chopping boards, a knife, utensils and a water bottle. The intent is practical: tools for everyday cooking built around a single material, without adding a layer to alter the cooking surface.

We keep the positioning direct and product-led. Titanium is a metal used in demanding environments; here, it is used for kitchenware that is heated, washed, handled and used repeatedly. Cooking is done directly on the metal, with the behaviour that implies.

Alongside technical facts, we also publish customer feedback to reflect real-world use. Maison Forneau is rated 4.9/5 from 2,847 verified reviews.

The science

Our products are made from grade 1 titanium. The titanium is laboratory certified at 99.89% purity, using the same grade commonly described as “medical-grade” titanium. The products are compliant with food-contact standards.

We apply no non-stick coating. You cook directly on bare metal. This means no PFAS, no PFOA and no PTFE, and it avoids adding a layer that could flake or migrate. The surface in contact with food is the titanium itself.

The titanium is tested by an independent laboratory accredited to ISO 17025. We use this as a stable, verifiable reference for speaking about the material and what that means in the kitchen.

  • Material: grade 1 titanium
  • Purity: 99.89% (laboratory certified)
  • Testing: independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
  • Food contact: compliant with applicable standards

Titanium in the kitchen

What we do not claim

Our products are designed in France, but we do not claim a French manufacturing origin. The reason is factual: France does not produce raw titanium, and titanium stamping is concentrated among a small number of industrial players worldwide. We prefer to state that industrial reality rather than allow inference.

We also do not claim that the surface will stay visually pristine. Titanium can show surface marks with use, depending on utensils, technique and cooking habits. These marks remain superficial: there is no layer to flake, and nothing can migrate from a coating, because we do not use one.

For us, transparency includes these everyday truths: a real metal surface, normal wear, and precise language.

Our commitments

Our commitments set out the practical terms of the customer relationship, before and after purchase.

  • Warranty: lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
  • Delivery: free worldwide delivery.
  • Returns: 30-day returns.
  • Contact: info@forneau.fr.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects, while normal use can leave marks on bare metal. The 30-day return window lets you assess, in your own kitchen, whether cooking on uncoated titanium suits your habits.

Frequently asked questions

What does Maison Forneau make?

Maison Forneau designs pure titanium kitchenware: frying pans, sauté pans, woks, saucepans, stockpots, chopping boards, a knife, utensils and a water bottle.

What grade of titanium do you use, and how is it verified?

We use grade 1 titanium, laboratory certified at 99.89% purity. The titanium is tested by an independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, and the products are compliant with food-contact standards.

Is there any non-stick coating?

No. You cook directly on the metal, with no coating. This means no PFAS, no PFOA and no PTFE, and it avoids any added layer that could flake or migrate.

Why don’t you claim a French manufacturing origin?

Because France does not produce raw titanium, and titanium stamping is concentrated among a small number of industrial manufacturers worldwide. We design in France and choose to be explicit about that industrial context.

Will titanium show marks with use?

Yes. Titanium can show surface marks over time depending on use. The marks remain superficial: there is no coating to flake, and nothing can migrate from a non-stick layer because none is used.

Is the titanium in your cookware the same as the titanium dioxide banned as a food additive?

No, these are two different things. Titanium dioxide E171 is a white powdered pigment that EFSA no longer considers safe as a food additive. Our cookware is made of grade 1 metallic titanium, a solid metal used for surgical implants, for which the Council of Europe technical guide deemed no specific release limit necessary.
